As I see the products here, I feel extraordinarily happy. I would like to thank all our academics and students who put in an effort for this”.

Also, Rector of Yeditepe University, Prof. Dr. Canan Aykut Bingöl also spoke during the ceremony, saying “I would like to thank all our academics who put their efforts into the exhibition. “ACADEMY’S CONTRIBUTION IS NOT ONLY RAISING STUDENTS”

Providing information regarding the exhibition, Yeditepe University’s Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts and Head of the Department of Plastic Arts and Painting, Prof. Gülveli Kaya reminded that the exhibition has a history and continued as follows: “ The first of our exhibitions have been organized with the curatorship of Prof. Dr. Kaya Özsezgin in 2006. He is one of the prominent art historians of Turkey, yet he unfortunately passed away in 2016. He organized the exhibition here, with the same name, with a collaboration of the Departments of Graphic Design and Plastic Arts and Painting of the Faculty of Fine Arts of Yeditepe University Departments of Graphic Design and Plastic Arts and Painting of the Faculty of Fine Arts of Yeditepe University. We also wanted to organize an exhibition with the same name, at the same location, with the same graphics. Also, we brought together our Departments of Graphic Design and Plastic Arts and Painting together. We need to make our exhibitions continue for our institutional memory. I was a research assistant during the first exhibition. Today, I am here as the dean of the faculty, as well as a professor. I hope our current research assistants here will take this as an example when they finish their specializations, and our exhibition will become a tradition. This is our legacy for future generations”.

THIS IS THE EXHIBITION THAT OUR ACADEMICS FACE THEMSELVES AND THE STUDENTS

Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts and the Head of the Department of Graphic Design, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Özlem Mutaf Büyükarman also stated that Yeditepe University puts great importance on art and culture, and they are lucky to be a part of it. She continued as follows: “Our exhibition consists of works and collaborations of 27 academics from the Departments of Graphic Design and Plastic Arts and Painting. Faculty of Fine Arts brings these departments together as a crucial framework. The Department of Plastic Arts provides the foundation to all other departments and its paths cross with graphic design frequently. Also, the Department of Graphic Design also started to be a part of fine arts with its conceptual works. So, I can say that the collaboration is a fine one. We have also organized the “Face Off” exhibition for our 25th year, in Pera Museum, where all our alumni collaborated together. This exhibition is also one where our academics faced themselves and their students. They always teach, and they are known as academics, but they are also artists. We are able to observe their efforts here in the name of arts in this exhibition. Our exhibition is open for a month, and we would like to invite everyone interested”.
